What to Wear for a First Date

First dates are your first chance to make a great first impression. That makes it a perfect recipe for pressure – pressure to look your best, pressure to be punctual, pressure to be attractive, pressure to be liked and so on. Keep these tips in mind to help you decide what to wear for your first date.

Wear your best dress. Keep it simple and elegant. Wear bright colours. Steer clear of all whites and all blacks. That steals the colour away from your personality. Men can play it safe with a shirt and great pair of jeans. Women must insist on going the tried and tested way. Do not try on a new style or design. Be yourself. Wear an outfit that compliments you and ensure you have already worn it a couple of times before.

Footwear must be comfortable and trendy. Ensure you match it to your dress. Do not wear stilettoes or high heeled shoes that you are unaccustomed to. Ensure the soles are not wooden or metallic. The noise will make your shoes announce you have arrived before you actually reach the venue.

Do not be overdressed. A coat, shrug and muffler with mittens do not add up to give an elegant dress. Dress according to the weather but do not overdo it. Refrain from skin show. Strike a balance between covering up and dressing sexy. You want to be known for who you are and not what you are wearing or showing.

Do your hair up in a neat and fuss free style.  Keep it washed, smelling great and always carry a brush to set it right when needed. Avoid artificial hair extensions, wigs and toupees. You must be natural to be liked.

Both men and women must compliment their body contours with appropriate clothes. Accentuate your assets, underplay your flaws and feel confident. Always smell good by putting on eau de colognes and perfumes on your pulse points. Wear your smile and you are ready for your date.
